February Photos Roundup: A Month of Meaningful Moments

01.03.24

As we bid farewell to February and welcome March, I am currently reflecting on my photography experiences from the past month. I had a number of different photo opportunities from assignments to impromptu captures. I always keep in mind that with every photo a moment has been immortalized, and each picture tells its own unique story.

The first of my interesting assignments was the pregnancy shoot of two dear friends, a couple who have embarked on the journey of parenthood. A pregnancy shoot captures the anticipation and joy of the soon to be parents. Equally memorable was the opportunity to document Fr. Karm's concert, where melodies filled the air and spirits soared. You can view some of Fr. Karm's concert photos here.

Another interesting assignment was that of documenting a karaoke event for a gaming company. During this event employees had another moment to bond and together have some fun. I focused my photography on group shots as well as candid shots which captured the joy and enthusiasm of the participants. However one must also compliment the organising team who created this event.

Yet, amidst the structured assignments, I also enjoy serendipitous encounters. A visit to Fontanella at Imdina for a cappuccino and cake also led to an unexpected rendezvous with a number of sparrows, that were eagerly awaiting to be fed cake crumbs. I enjoyed observing their playful antics and I took the opportunity to take some spontaneous captures of these cute little birds.

Beyond the lens, the month also offered moments for reflection and inspiration. Delving into the life of Beatles star Paul McCartney and his multi-talented wife, Linda, I was immersed in their life's story which revealed a captivating tale of creativity and resilience. I was particularly interested in Linda's journey from photographer and musician to becoming a mum. Her career as a photographer as a photographer was guided by mentor David Dalton. I was impressed how she managed to work her way into taking photos of musicians and other celebrities. Her photos were published in Life and Rolling Stone magazine.

As we transition into March, the focus shifts to upcoming projects and new experiences. From Holy Communion bookings to planned shoots, my journey continues with enthusiasm and anticipation on what is to come. Lately I had the opportunity to impart the art of photography to eager students. I hope that these sessions ignite their interest in photography and one day we will have a new generation of visual storytellers.
